“High Performance Collaboration: Cultivating Effective Conflict Resolution ” is a scenario-based eLearning designed to help collaborators manage conflict effectively.

I am currently creating this project in the Storyline Project Lab course as part of the Storyline Bootcamp with Devlin Peck.

Problem and Solution

Cognicontent is a fictitious web analytics company specialising in usability, accessibility, content, and strategy. It has gone from 75 to 150 employees over the past two years. This project addresses performance issues exhibited by collaborating team members.

The client was concerned because higher performance demands have resulted in conflicts among employees, and this is impeding productive collaboration, compromising quality and efficiency, and ultimately disrupting management. Escalated conflict has impaired relationships and morale, and deadlines have been threatened and missed. In the long-term, the lack of employee satisfaction and a persistent blame culture that stifles collaboration and innovation could prove existential threats, while a team well equipped to manage inevitable conflict in high pressure situations could prove fundamental to the company’s ability to scale.

After analysing the company’s induction process and speaking to a representative, I have determined that the source of the team’s collaboration issue is a problem primarily of conflict resolution skills. Team members lack the ability to effectively de-escalate conflicts that naturally occur as part of the collaboration process under high pressure deadlines.

I proposed an analysis of the most common conflicts and the most common escalations, followed by implementing a scenario-based eLearning experience that can train employees to manage conflict well, even in high pressure situations.

Process

After assessing the problems in communication, I identified the interactions most suitable to address with eLearning. I developed an action map and will next type up a full storyboard with script. After a review cycle with feedback and approval, I will then create a complete visual storyboard and a prototype. Once this is approved, I will make the final product.
